My name is Edwin Correa, and the story of Merck Roofing begins long before I ever stepped onto a roof. I was born in Medellín, Colombia, and at seven years old my family moved to the United States in search of a better future. We didn’t know the language, the culture, or what waited for us, but we were determined to build a life founded on hard work and opportunity.
This country welcomed us with far more than opportunity — it gave us friendships, community, and a place we learned to call home. Today, after living here for more than forty years, we are fully American at heart. I am grateful every day for the life my family has built here, and I am committed to leaving this country better than when we arrived. That’s why a percentage of the proceeds from every roof we replace goes to local charities focused on helping children thrive in our community.
We settled first in DeKalb County and later in Gwinnett, where I attended Meadowcreek High School before going on to Georgia Perimeter College. Like many first-generation families, my path wasn’t always easy, but it shaped the values that guide me today — gratitude, perseverance, honesty, and a belief that treating people well matters.
Before starting Merck Roofing, I spent years in leadership and operations roles, eventually becoming a Director of Operations responsible for multiple locations and large teams. Those years gave me a deep understanding of customer service, team development, and what it truly takes to run a successful business. At the same time, I was surrounded by family members who worked in the roofing industry. Their pride in craftsmanship and their commitment to helping homeowners planted the seed that one day I would build something of my own.
Merck Roofing was created to bring integrity and personal accountability to an industry where trust is everything. We named the company in honor of my late father-in-law — a man known for his honesty, character, and unwavering commitment to doing the right thing. His values are the foundation of this business.
Today, my wife and I are raising four wonderful kids in Gwinnett County. Our family is active at Grace Snellville, a church community that has been meaningful to us for nearly a decade. Everything I do — as a husband, father, and business owner — comes back to the same purpose: to work hard, serve people well, and build something that makes my family proud.
